Having only taken up the game last year, and being new to the area, I started playing at Newent because it was my local course. I continue to play at Newent because this 9-hole course may be small, but is still challenging, for any handicapper. Tom and Susan are perfect hosts, and you will find a friendly, relaxed atmosphere in the clubhouse, none of the stereotypical golfing snobbery here. Tom keeps the course in immaculate condition, all-year round, and the mix and diversity of the holes is a delight. Still not sure about his adding of a lake just in front of the green on the short par 3, 3rd hole. I think he did it just to make us buy more golf balls from him. Whatever your level of play, give this little gem a try, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

I have played golf on this course and have had the tremendous satisfaction of getting a good game in very pleasant surroundings. The greens are kept beautifully and the atmosphere in the club is homely friendlyness combined with enormous professionalism and enthusiasm on behalf of the hosts Tom and Susan Brown. I cannot recommend this course more highly to all those who want a good game, good crack and good bed and breakfast.
