I have just returned from Old Thorns after a 3 day golfing weekend with 40 players. I have to say the fairways were good but the greens were terrible. The staff in the pro shop were the most obnoxious, unhelpful, unfriendly bunch of people I have had the misfortune to come across. I will never go back and will not recommend Old Thorns to anyone.

I have to agree with John Cartlidge. I started playing golf in July 1998 and have just achieved my official handicap of 28 as a member of Old Thorns Golf Club.
I have never played at such a well maintained, forward looking, friendly and welcoming Golf Club. Although I travel for 30 minutes to get there every time I play, it is well worth the effort. The scenery is breathtaking, the course is challenging, especially for me, and the management have the members and their guests interest at the forefront of their minds. There is even a driving range where you can loosen up before you attack the course at large.
There is at present a number of improvements taking place to bunkers, the greens and even extensions to water hazards which will make the course even prettier and more challenging, if that is possible.

Recently played the course and it was is great condition and a real challenge. Only complaint was the bunkers which had no sand in them.
