Awful course. An absolute mess in most places. You're restricted to the bottom half of the course unless you fancy walking through 4ft deep wheel ruts and being nearly knocked over by the wind. Not worth the effort; avoid at all costs.

Oldham is a course which you will either love or hate. Quirky with 6 par 3s and quite a few blind holes. The first eight holes lull one into thinking it is a normal parkland course. The sixth and eighth are good challenging par 4s. Only the biggest hitters can expect to make the sixth in two.
Once on the ninth tee you realize this course is TOUGH.Driving over a deep hollow with water one is faced with a steep hill. In dry weather a second shot short of the green can run all the way back downhill and finish 20 yds back from where it started.Perseverance is rewarded by a glorious opportunity on the 17th tee, from which a good drive can soar out into space and ,hopefully, reach the green (wind permitting)lying over a hundred feet below.
A course worth trying, but only if you are reasonably fit.One last thing - the greens are mostly small but in summer are probably among the best, most consistent ,quality in the North West.

I have played on the course several times and it is one of the hardest courses I have played on. Being a professional and having played all over the world I' am proud to say your course in outstanding. Your grounds men are far the best!!!
    Keep up the good work.
