We had our very first golf society day at Ombersley, and all the players commented on the superb condition of the course, the food, and the very friendly and helpful manner of the staff. We will definitely return again. Mike Byrne, Secretary , Hollybush Golf Society (andybyrne@tinyworld.co.uk) 06/01
Ombersley Golf club for a public course is exceptional value for money. The course is still fairly young but has started to establish character, and having played there on and off for the last seven years can commend the club on their continued efforts to keep the fairways and greens in great condition.
The course layout is varied but there are four holes on the back nine that line up pretty straight and parallel (12,13,14 and 18). This course can be a great boost for the medium to high handicapper as it is quite forgiving in the fact that from a majority of holes it is feasible to recover from rough and still reach the green in regulation.
All in all it is a very decent course, which has a well-equipped clubhouse, accommodating staff and an efficient catering team serving good food. As a last note, a great attribute to this course is the drainage in place which has been reflected in the fact that during heavy rain periods it has been the only course open in the area for miles, without the need to wear flippers and a mask!
