A cracking little course with nine very different and interesting holes. At £3.50 per round you would be forgiven for thinking you were about to play a bit of a rough, Manchester Muni. Not so as the course is a credit to the grounds staff and members. Tends to get busy even through the week so get there early.

i play at pennington every week and it is really tricky espically the 5th hole as the green is one of the hardest in the north west, plus last week someone holed it for 2 in a comp

I have played the course quite alot as I am a junior and that is what it tends to be good for. Some challenging holes as the majority of them have water involved. Tends to get extremely busy during the summer time and quite bogged down during the winter though. Great value for money and more suitable for beginners and juniors.

I played Pennington last weekend and to be honest, it was the 'best value for money' I've ever spent. Although its only short, the water hazards that come into play on almost every hole make it demanding but pleasurable to play. Considering it is a municipal, the course is in great shape although I expect it can get very boggy in the winter (but can't they all?).

A tricky little 9 hole course with plenty of water hazards. The course consists of 6 par 4 of which all bar one (the 5th) are comfortably reachable in 2, two par 3's that both have water in play, the 7th (Par 3) is particularly tricky as there is a brook running down the entire right hand side which usually grabs a sliced ball. The final hole is a nice long par 5. In general its quite a tough course that is a pleasure to play on a quite day.
With it being a Municipal it tends to be overplayed and during the summer I have known it take 2.5 hours for 9 holes. The course tends to get water logged in the winter so you are advised to ring before setting out. The course does have proper winter greens on all holes (not just fairway that is been cut). Finally the course offers excellent value for money both during weekdays and weekends.
