I played here last week on a stop off before visiting the Lake District. The course was well prepared and in exellent condition (Mid September 2004). Well worth a visit for anyone looking for an enjoyable short(ish) course with some truly memorable holes. 2 moans :
    1. GreenFees are only payable in cash (something the club web site does not advise)
    2. Starting with a Par 3 (and with only 1 official start point) the pace of play is not quick. Additionally I was perhaps unlucky to be playing in a 2Ball behind a 4ball of (Lady)Members- who refused to acknowledge our presence- and in spite of losing ground themselves neglected basic etiquette by failing to call us through.

Just a query were you in Puerto Banus at the end of Sept playing golf with friends by any chance or have I got the wrong person.

I played 36 holes around this course in July 2001. It was a typical James Braid designed course. Not too long but with cleverly placed bunkers and hazards and quite hilly.
The course was in perfect condition and stars with an easy par 3, which softens you up for what is too come later. The second is a short par 4 but accuracy is everything.
The signature holes for me are the closing ones. 14 a par three that must drop 100 feet from tee to green. 15 a par 4 with a blind tee shot with a brook running alongside a huge mound in the fairway. 16 a very long par 4 with a large mound in the fairway about 200 from the tee to a green up a steep hill narrowing between mounds with bunkers to catch an errant shot with a two tier green the best hols on the course for me. 17 a magnificent par 5 dropping back down the hill to wicked green with a brook in front. 18 is an easy flat par four but the damage could well have been done.
The course rating for me is 9/10. A must for any lover of golf and with so many links courses around Preston it makes a pleasant change.

I have played Preston Golf Club several times on visit's to the area. I think it is a wonderful course with a difficult start and a very tough finish particularly hole 17 which is a par 5 with a stream just in front of the green. The course is undulating parkland with a stream running through the course which affects four or five holes. It is definitely worth a visit if you are in the vicinity I was made to feel most welcome and the clubhouse serves excellent liquid refreshment
