Excellent golf course; plenty of water...great for big hitters; birdies and eagles always a possibility. Crazy 11th; par 5 that only requires a 6 iron, 8 iron and wedge.... or a drive over the corner and a 9-iron in. Great finishing hole.

A testing and attractive mid-length moorland/parkland course in the depths of Surrey requiring good course management given the influence of tight fairways and water on the majority of the holes. The undulating nature of the greens and positioning of the pins pose their own challenges. The ninth hole is truly memorable and not intended for those with a nervous disposition although the back nine seem to hold more interest than the first. Most golfers would relish the water obstacles and it enhanced rather than diluted my enjoyment. My personal rating - 7/10.

A very testing watery course!! Each hole provides a challenge where good course management pays dividends. The short 6th is played completely over a sand shelf and the 8th is approached uphill over another daunting bunker. Especially challenging is the long par 5,ninth, playing your third shot over water and bunker. An Amen Corner of some sorts through the 11th,12th and 13th will either make or break the round. The 12th is especially noteworthy with two island fairways to aim for, followed by a green surrounded by more water. A tremendous last hole means a second shot over water to a fairway lined with trees on one side and a lake on the other into a green guarded by several bunkers and water over the back.

Pyrford is a most enjoyable course indeed, although not an easy one. A great design from Peter Alliss. Some long carries are required off the tee. If this is achieved the course opens up for the average golfer. For a modern course it has matured very quickly indeed. A course to make you think at every turn. The 9th hole is a MONSTER and I mean a MONSTER!!!! If you par this hole you will probably record a reasonable score for the front nine. Enjoy Pyrford for what it is, you won't regret it.
