Ricky is a short but demanding course. I used to play it as a youth but returned some 20 years later to find the general state of the fairways and greens has been significantly improved. Most of the par 4's are a good wood and a short iron so length is not an issue Accuracy and a good short game should provide a decent return against your handicap and there are plenty of attractive and interesting holes to keep you thinking.

Although this course is short dont be fooled the 1ST hole gives a good introduction to what golf is all about. You need to be accurate you feel you are shooting up the side of a volcano with the green on top and it is easy to over or under hit the ball especially with the audience waiting to play after you. The second hole The course opens up with the only par 5 flag blind of the tee you get a wonderful view across the valley to Watford then you know its better than working especially in Autumn.
The new 3rd hole is the old fourth and if you slice then be prepared to loose a couple of balls. I could go on but all I will say is if you are in this part of the world the play it. as public golf courses go this is one of the best, even the greens are well kept.
Green fees are very reasonable excellent value for money.

Played This course many many times in my youth and have many fond memories of it. Only a par 63 but don't let this put you off. You will be happy if you walk away from the short holes with a par on your scorecard.

with so many changes this message must be ignored if not removed - it is so out of date. The course is always in excellent condition and all the staff- the pro-shop and bar - are courteous, well-mannered and welcoming
