The Clubhouse is surely one of the most historical in golf, the interior is decorated in great traditional ways that will amaze visitors, it has to be seen to be believed.
The welcome is excellent, demonstrated well by the new head professional Richard Harrison, Richard has fitted in excellently to his new surroundings and is very popular among members and should be congratulated for his transformation of the pro shop.
The course is underrated, and its difficulty should not be undermined.
The course starts with a long par 4 of 472 yards, starting from an elevated tee in front of the clubhouse, the drive is undemanding but the second shot is very difficult, often 200+ yards into a strong breeze firing into a narrow green.
The second is also a fine hole, finding the fairway is difficult, mainly due to a large perfectly positioned bunker to the right of the fairway. The approach shot is among the most testing on the course, uphill to a severely undulating and fast green, while trying to avoid a particularly treacherous pot bunker to the right of the green.
The rest of the course is also very challenging, epotimised by the great 17th with its grand cross bunker. Then comes the infamous 18th, do you lay up or do you drive it?
It's allways having a crack, i say, although make sure the drive is acurate if not you will almost certainly lose a ball in trees on the left.[dont use any pro vs!]
