#I live in Chicago and Miami Beach; I play golf all over the United States. I have been playing in Scotland, Wales and around London and then I discovered the Southeast corner of England. I fell in love. I have been playing the game for over 50 years and I can still break 80 and without a doubt Royal Cinque Ports is the best, toughest course I have ever played, anywhere. My second best is Bethpage Black (Long Island) and they are playing the U.S. Open there this year. You have 3 elements to deal with in Great Britain--wind, rain and cold. If you play the South East corner middle of May to middle of Sept, you have a good chance of only having to deal with the wind and not the other two elements. This is a true links course, out and then back and all on the channel. This course is better than St. George and better than Princes... All three courses are next to each other, and they are all great. Also, play Rye if you are in the area. Also, the members and the golf pro and assistants are extremely friendly and helpful at Royal Cinque Ports; this is not the case at many of the English courses, especially the classic well-known links courses.
