There are two 18 hole courses at Saunton, both are traditional links courses, the East being the recognised Championship course. Whereas the West although shorter in many ways offers a more exacting test of golf. There are two putting greens available as well as practice grounds to brush up on your swing!

| Sauntons East Course has been the venue for many major championships and the testing 18 holes makes it one of the best links courses in the country. Established in 1897 Saunton has a long history, voted 25th in the top 100 courses in the British Isles, the East course is one course that should not be missed when visiting the Southwest. The quality of the course has long been recognised and it is often home to the most prestigious amateur championship as it was in its centenary year. | The West Course has had extensive improvements over the past few years, including the total rebuilding of all 18 greens. It is now a very attractive alternative to the East Course. Our second course was originally built in the mid-thirties but was lost as a battle training ground during the Second World War. It was not until 1973 that the decision was made to rebuild the course and the work was completed in 1975. Further changes were made over the subsequent years and the West Course is now also a superb links course, equal in quality to that of the East but having a character of its own and demanding accuracy, with many ditches just waiting to catch the errant shot.

worth making the trip for. Links golf doesn't get much better than this, and provided the wind doesn't give you hell it's not as tough as you might expect for the mid-handicapper. but buy a course map!

The finest links course in England? Wonderful scenery - testing holes - golf in it's purest form. A true, yet fair, challenge! Excellent food and friendly staff at the club house. If not so remote and without sufficient hotel accommodation; it would surely host The Open. Thoroughly recommended.

TheLines of dunes separate you from the seashore but this is unmistakably a links course. And a superb one. One blind teeshot, otherwise all the hazards of the finest championship courses are there for you to enjoy. Off the yellows no-one need be intimidated, but I suspect the blue tees turn it into a bit of a monster. I can't wait to go back!
