After spending a while trying to find the course, (off the A47 out of Leicester was the best way) I was greeted by a fine test of golf. The first three holes at Scraptoft were tough, two par 4's over 450 yards long with a par 3 190 yardage in between them. So the motto here was to warm up first because you have to hit it a long way from the off.
The course is mainly parkland with lots of trees new and old, although a little scruffy in places there's a premium on straight hitting and good placement of your tee shot, as I often say take a course planner to make the best of your visit. The greens were reasonable but with no pace to them.
The club has had to build two new holes 12 & 13 in a field, which was out of character with the rest of the course; sorry guys but these holes are awful and spoilt what was a good day out. I'm sure they will mature in time but for now they are not to good.
I liked the 17th and 18th holes very much. The 17th a par 5 requires two good shots to get anywhere near the raised green, water, trees and out of bounds to the right made it a joy if a little nerve racking! The 18th requires a precise tee shot with trees either side and out of bounds right, before an uphill shot to the green, a shot that plays one more club than you think. The clubhouse has been refurbished and the food was reasonable and inexpensive, the service was a little frosty but overall forgetting the 12th & 13th a nice day out. Course 4/10 Clubhouse/Food 5/10
