Course Details

Course Name: Sidmouth Holes: 18 Yardage: 5068 SSS: 65
Designed by JH Taylor, the course is a little over 5000 yards, however visitors should not be mislead into thinking of Sidmouth as 'easy'. Each hole provides its own challenge, not least of which are the seven par threes. Undulating fairways and subtle borrows add to this demanding but delightful test of golf. Length is not essential - but accuracy is a must. The coastal views are an added bonus - well worth a visit.

    Tuesday 9th February,1999.
The views across Lyme Bay from the 1st tee on a glorious sunny day set the scene for a wonderful round of golf.
The course, although not long, was a stiff test of golf and very enjoyable. The friendly welcome, along with the excellent bar and catering facilities, ensured an excellent day out.

What were we to expect from a course where Cyril Easterbrook, the Ryder Cup
player was the professional, where Harry Vardon played and where the professional Roger Winchester spent his formative years?
Tucked away in the seclusion of the Sid Valley, we discovered a delightfully
picturesque eighteen hole gem, set in the heart of the country and enjoying the most magnificent views over Lyme bay.
This well established course is a true test of golf ,offering a variety of holes encapsulating many hidden greens to challenge the most skilful of putters.
Our day was concluded in the clubhouse where sustenance was readily available coupled with the most convivial of hospitality.
    A five star day out.

This is a very charming and quite demanding parkland course. It affords some spectacular views across Sidmouth, none better than from the 10th tee when you are at the top of the course. Although not long, it provides a challenge as it is very undulating and you rarely play the ball on level ground. Be warned if you are unfit, it is very hilly.
