I am a big fan of Stackstown GC. It has magnificent views of Dublin, is a very challenging course (not for the unfit unless you fancy hiring a buggy car) and is relatively for Ireland very good value for money. If you;re lucky, you will spot deer, hares and even Padraig Harrington on the course. He lives nearby and still practices a fair bit up there.

I have played it twice during my visits to Ireland and have really enjoyed playing there, although the climbs on some of the holes make it very tiring. It's where Padraig Harrington learned to play golf, and you can see why he had to learn to scramble, with many of the fairways sloping to one side. This makes some of the holes very unfair. However, it's good holes more than make up for this and it's well worth a visit. It's also within 10 or 15 minutes of a number of other good courses - the
