I only took up the fine sport of golf in March 08, I tried a few different coures in my local area but none could come close to Stocksfield. As soon as I had played my first round there I knew it was the place for me. The front nine, with its tree lined fairways, really test your driving accuracy ( which is why i spend hours there looking for my wayward drives). There is one perticular hole ( the eight)aptly named tree top tangle which will test even the best golfers who dare try it. Then you come to back nine which is a completly different test, with it long open fairways and hard green approaches. Overall this coure tests every part of your game and always makes you think about your shots, even if you have played it a hundred times.

I first played this course as a non-member in February of this year, and after a few more rounds was convinced this was a course that would still be a challenge after many rounds, so I joined. The outward nine are testing if you're not a straight hitter, but the tree lined fairways are so picturesque that you forgive yourself the odd wayward drive. The back nine reward long hitting and accurate approach play, and the greens are excellent.
All the facilities are exceptional and the welcome(even for the novices amongst us) is warm and patient.

We visited Stocksfield golf club in our works golf day. The course was in excellent condition, everyone from the steward-secretary to the professional made our visit very pleasant, The cost of the day for golf and food was very good. Our party will be visiting again next year.
