This Golf Course should be a must for anyone holidaying in the Tayside Region
of Scotland, I had 2 weeks holiday in a cottage on the course between the 4th
hole and the 6th hole my son his wife and myself played daily having hired
the cottage the golf was FREE...we were not able to play on Saturday or Sunday's but we were able to have a few holes after the course closed. From the 6th tee you can look all the way down Loch Tay with Ben Lawers towering over it. In the evening wild Deer roam over the course. I loved it and can't wait to return

Beautiful course with some fun holes(American point of view). On Par 4's that head back towards the castle watch out for the 40 foot drop off 100 yards in front of the green the stance for the second shot is terrible. If you can't hit your driver more than 260 yards use a 5-iron to give yourself 130+ yards for an easier approach shot. The first par 3 is the best hole on the course.

I too went to school at Taymouth Castle School in 1970, and Curt's sister was my roommate. I have wonderful memories of the golf course (I loved rolling down the hills). I was even a 'caddy' one time for a local boy who's relatives I met while living in Tanzania. Taymouth Castles and it's surroundings is a place I'd love to re-visit.

I am fascinated with this site - Please Read. I went to school in Taymouth Castle in the early 70's when it was a boarding school. I know its history, golf course, horse riding (sorry but on the golf course as well), Aberfeldy and especially Kenmore as well as the old army barracks and Tay River in back, and all of the hidden passages in the castle. Is the Banner room still as it was as it was my favourite place?
Is the library still as it was when I was there for several years, with the hand carved statues on the walls, the mirror room in front, and the hidden door on the side?
I was there at the ages of 13-15. I and my three sisters, also in the same school, have very fond memories of this experience. My oldest sister graduated from high school at Taymouth Castle.
We have many great memories and pictures of Taymouth Castle during those years and I, my sisters, and my parents continually try to relay these to the children and grandchildren.
Taymouth Castle means a lot me and my family and please keep it as it was during those years.
We would love to hear a response on how 'our school' is doing and what it looks like now! Thank You, Sincerely An Ex -Taymouth Castle Student

I am researching the history of the golf course and club at Taymouth Castle (near Aberfeldy in Scotland) and would like to hear from anyone who was at the American school there in the 1970s. If you have stories of playing golf there or photos of the course and clubhouse in the 1970s that would be much appreciated.

An excellent parkland course with beautiful views. Fairways, greens and overall condition is excellent. The day ticket is exceptional value. (only £ 1.00 per hole after all). Catering and visitors changing could be better but nothing could detract from the wonderful days golf at this course. Some of the holes are quite hilly so take care if you suffer from any condition which might make climbing difficult, however, there are electric golf carts for hire.
