One of the truly great links courses in Ireland. Great feeling of tranquility as you play through the corridors of sand dunes on most of the front nine and the latter part of the back nine Some very testing golf holes, particularly the index one 3rd which requires a good drive and second shot to a small raised green protected by a bunker on the left. The ball ineviably hits the faiway approaching the green and kicks right. The spectacular par three 13th, 190 metres with the sea to the right. The 14th with a very narrow fairway and long narrow green. The 18th requires two very long and accurate shots. There is a nice friendly atmosphere in the new clubhouse. I believe the club is hosting the Irish Amateur Golf Championship this year. I wish them all the best and will be back.

Watch out, this is a true links as advertised. This means out-of-this-earth landscape, no trees, and rough that swallows balls more often than not if you happen to err more than a yard away from the fairway. Psychologically, a true masochistic delight for anybody who is not used to play links. But then, none there expects you to play your handicap the first time off these tees, especially on the 14th, so narrow you barely notice there is a fairway. Played on a beautiful day, without too much wind, though, and I thoroughly enjoyed the punishment.
