After recently being invited to play at Wath by my father in law, Albert Sanderson, myself and my friend Darren and my brother-in-law Mike struggled a little because of the rain. In the rain we all found Wath to be a magnificent Golf Course which was challenging right from the first hole. In the past, my father in law has achieved a hole-in-one on the par 3 12th hole (and he will not let us forget it!!) We played in two teams; myself and my friend Darren played against Albert and my brother-in-law Mike and run them right until the last couple of holes, only being piped at the 18th. Local knowledge took advantage!! Overall a fantastic course that is a pleasure to play in both good and bad weather.

I recently played a round at Wath and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The club assistant pro provided excellent guidance when I enquired about a new set of irons. The clubs I choose were an excellent price. I am a scratch golfer and went around the 18 holes in 67. (2 under par). The newly constructed 8th and 9th offered a tough challenge. I had the experience of playing off the back tee's on the monstrous 17th. After the round I found the club house a friendly yet strict environment.

Extended to 18 holes in 1989; Wath challenges the golfer with a meadowland layout featuring small,well-kept greens and tight fairways as its main defences. At around the 6000 yard mark Wath places a premium on accuracy both from the tee and with approach shots to find its fast-running greens that are always in fine condition.
With the signature hole coming at the 12th requiring a mid to short iron over a picturesque pond to secure a par three, visitors find Wath an easy-walking and enjoyable location to enjoy a round. At over 240 yards from the back tees the 17th is perhaps one of the best-known (and most feared) par threes in the county and is part of a demanding finishing stretch.
All in all an enjoyable place to visit with a friendly clubhouse boasting excellent food. Paul Godber (Hcp 11)
