As a beginner I find Wheathill easier than some of the other local courses. The fairways are quite wide and being a 'younger' course the bushes and trees are less of a hazard. The streams running through the course offer hazards on the 4th, 6th, 7th, 14th. 15th and 16th holes. Bunkers are well placed especially on the 17th where the risk of hitting the bunker is worth taking to cut the corner of the dogleg and save a stroke(or in most cases to practise your bunker shots). The cost is reasonable for 18 holes on a weekend. The tuition offered at the club is excellent. I have recently taken part in a group course with one of the four PGA professionals where I learnt a great deal and solved one or two of my problems.
The facilities are excellent and the club is very friendly. Well worth a visit if you are in the area for a relaxed game which shouldn't take more than two to three hours.
