Whiston has a reputation for being tougher than normal and it doesn't disappoint. My first round finished 20 above my normal score! But it really is worth every shot. Great scenery and staff that make you feel so welcome. Be warned, the greens are never flat and if dry, they are pretty fast. It is a very hilly course so make sure you have your walking shoes on. Whiston makes a welcome break from more established courses in the area.

My favourite course which I play weekly. Hole 4 is a short pitch, but don't miss the 'green in a crater' or serious hacking ensues. Don't worry if you exceed your target score after the first nine, the last four or five holes will bring give it some respectability. No two holes are similar. A summers day, birds floating high above moorland and no cars in sight (well almost!) BLISS. The nineteenths not bad either.
