This course is correctly named Wigan golf club becasue its the best golf club in the district, with a limited number of members (around the 300 mark) and a waiting list of about 5 years it is a very prestigous course!
The course is very well maintained and the greens are moderately quick.
It was once just a nine hole course which has had centuries to mature and is full of Very large oak trees.
the new nine holes are very bare and are difficult to play in the wind.
the closing hole is a test for golfers of all standards, teeing off over a large valley (about 200 yards to clear it), then if you hit the fairway you have another 250 yards into the green with the largest tree on the golf course situated in the dead centre of the fairway blocking your route to the green, leaving you to debate as to either go over the tree (virtually impossible), around the tree (virtually impossible) or under the tree (virtually impossible)so it leaves it to the players creativity and imagination to get the par, (par 4) to seal off the best round of golf you will hav ever played! Truly outstanding course!

It's not the correct name really, because the golf course isn't in Wigan.
It's correct name would be Arley Hall Golf Club, or maybe Blackrod Golf Club.
        Definitely not Wigan.
