The Willingdon Golf course is a stern test of golf. The beauty of its setting lulls one into a false sense of security, but one the golfer gets on to the course he discovers just hoe tough it really is. Built into a bowl the South Downs the wind swirls and makes club selection extremely important. The small size of the raised greens means that any half club less and the ball rolls back down the fairway. Interestingly enough, the swirling winds and raised greens are both traits of Augusta National also designer by Dr. Mckenzie.

Although the course is 100 years old, it was re-designed by Dr Mackenzie about 60 years ago. As you would expect from the designer of Augusta, this is a challenging course that has stayed the course of time. It is also a very picturesque downland course that to-day most people would say could not be built. An experience not to be missed.
