Played here in June 09 and felt that it was such a good course that I should give it the praise that it deserves. This is not for the faint hearted or the holiday golfer, more for the regular player who is looking for a challenge and a great course to play but without having to take out an overdraft to pay for it. Tecnically it's outstanding, no 2 holes are the same and it stretches one's capabilities if you wish to post a good score. I would recommend this course to be included in one's itinerary

Six of us played here last Saturday, with some trepidation following the "pig farm" review from Oct 2006. We were very pleasantly surprised as the course was excellent. There are some very interesting holes and the condition of the course was top notch. Between holes is currently a building site as all the infrastructure is being upgraded ready for a European Tour event in 2010. The Pro and all the staff were very friendly and the six of us all rated this course as the best one we played on our tour.

    Dear Sirs
Having just arrived back from Portugal after playing the Golden Eagle Course on Saturday, you might be interested to know that it took 6 hours to play, that the management did not have rangers who helped to speed up play, and that local competitions took clear precedent over fee paying guests; the smell from the local pig farm was overwhelming and the incidence of flies was, unsurprisingly of epic infestation proportions. The condition of the course also left much to be desired. I would not wish to play there again particularly as the charges were in the "top club" bracket. You may wish to add this to your list of course reviews, but I do not expect to see it published. However, a reply would be most appreciated as I have 7 other companions who felt exactly the same.
    Yours etc.,
Garry Fitzhugh former captain of Bedfordshire Golf Club.

Looking for a golf course to play in Italy and out of curiousty and checked for the reviews of the Golden Eagle/Portugal.
Being a regular user since 2006 of the Golden Eagle Golf Course and a member of the club I feel upset with your review, not for what you mention but for your bad experience you had. I don't own the Golden Eagle I'm just a member but I'm sure that every review on golf courses is always welcome in between us golf players.
It is true that at the time there was the problem with the pig smell. Golden Eagle from the begining tried to solve this problem, and about a year ago the owners have bought and closed the farm.
As for the ranger, now they have one, things have changed.
Hope you don't get me wrong, I appreciate very much your review as I plan to review the courses I expect to be visiting, good or bad , that's why reviews exist.
        Golfers' Regards
        Marcel Nico
