In spite of reports about excellent greens we did not find them as good nor as fast as others we have played. The opening holes were a disappointment - straight up and down adjoining fairways that needed better maintenance. Some of the later holes were a total contrast, almost as if the designer was trying to compensate by making them tough (and losing the balance that we were led to expect from reports on this course). Also, the Marriott group now being majority shareholders naturally intend giving priority to their guests at the hotel (soon to be completed). There is unrest among existing members at the building of the new hotel, since they did not expect this development. Add the 600 plus members to the hotel guests and you will find that the course will be even more busy in the near future. Approval for a further 9 holes was given but has since been withdrawn in the face of opposition from environmental protection groups, so the situation is uncertain.

We stayed at the La Sella complex and found the apartment in need of refurbishment, and the course surprisingly difficult to get to, considering it adjoins the course. Building work was quite widespread, although a number of existing properties were for sale - possibly because the owners are unhappy with the change of ownership at the course.

Played La Sella on Monday 3.6.02 - 2 years since there previously - greens excellent, tees very good, but fairways in need of attention. Good friendly club for visitors, also had dinner at the 19th hole which was excellent. Rumour was that the hotel, due for completion Oct 2002) would take 35% of tee times. Hope not!.

Just back Javea 23/3/02, La Sella was the first course we played during the week; I didn't know what to expect but was very pleased in what I saw. It was quite windy which made quite a few of the holes more of a challenge.
What I would advise nevertheless is advance bookings, we'd booked tee times prior arriving whilst at the course tried to get times later in the week, the course was solid for the next 15 days!
All in all a very good course which is well worth a visit, lot's of scenery in an ideal location.

I played La Sella over the New Year period this year. After nearly 5 straight days of rain and most tee times being pre-booked I eventually managed to get on. A great coarse specially the front 9. The back nine seem to become a bit monotonous after a while, I think this could blamed on the weather over this period more than anything else, Balls were getting plugged on fairways which doesn't make for to much fun. My personal opinion is that owners of property on La Sella itself should be able to buy a weeks golf for a reduced rate if they are not already members. Get there before the Marriott Hotel is completed because I am sure it will end up like Piccadilly Circus. Enjoy!!

Great Course, Excellent test of golf. Good Scoring is possible if you can putt; I've never played on greens this fast and struggled as a consequence. Well worth a go, but get in before the hotel is finished

Having recently played the course I saw no evidence of a further 9 holes under construction, however the hotel is well under way. The course itself starts off gently but becomes more difficult as you progress and culminating in some of the most difficult holes I have ever played and with a beautiful back drop of mountains and hills. The club house is worth a visit on its own !.Give it a go you'll love it.

The work has been finished on the 17th, and certainly enhances the back 9. Also work has started on the hotel. I would suggest that anyone wanting to play this course and it's excellent greens do so before the hotel is completed, as when I played in December with a member he explained that the hotel would be allocated 50% of the daily tee times. Great course, enjoy!

I played the La Sella golf course during June and thought that the recent changes (now completed) are good additions to the back nine holes and make the last three holes a truly testing close to a good golf course. The back nine changes although not quite in perfect shape when I played the course were certainly getting that way; the most important part of the course (the greens) were still in excellent condition on this section but also on all the holes. I understand this is due to the no metal spike rule in place in the Valencian region.

I saw no evidence to date of either a hotel or a further nine holes being built...can anyone confirm if this is to be built?

The course is in a stage of redevelopment, which will return the two nines to equilibrium in terms of difficulty. The first nine is by far the hardest nine at present but the planned changes to the back nine especially the 17th hole will produce a good test when completed. An extra nine-hole course will also be built to add to the choice available at La Sella. A Marriott hotel is also planned.
The course boasts a good driving range and excellent greens. The fairways are mature on the front nine but the back nine fairways occasionally slip below the normally expected standards in this region. The excellent greens are a testament to spike-less golf shoes and the fairways will improve over time.
Go and play the course and send in your report so that others can benefit from your opinion.

An interesting course however the back nine fairways are in poor condition.
