Wonderful. Quiet doesn't begin to describe it. The course is well maintained and the greens good for a seeming middle-of-nowhere resort.
But the real fun is the cheeky way the 18 holes at turns invite bold attempts at birdie then bewildered attempts to struggle to a par. There are a few short holes - the first and fifth pasrticularly - but there are plenty of long holes that defy your best efforts. The sixth puts a gun to your head as to whether to lay up like a coward or risk a double bogey playing your second over the lake. The eighth is a reachable par 3 - if you can hit your drive over 250 yards. The ninth a wicked hole with a tree blocking out the dogleg to deny you pleasure in even the longest drive.
I used to think it cooled a bit with the 13th, 14th and 15th. But then I've even grown to respect them as part-breathers in the relentlessness of the course.
A really good day out. A quiet round, never clogged with players. Long and challenging. But always fair. Enjoy.
