I played this course in the pouring rain, but it was still a great experience. It is not over-engineered and combines a front nine built into the hillside, with a back nine across a valley, giving play considerable variety.
Superbly kept (as are nearly all the courses in the Algarve) it appears to be less heavily played than many of the other, better known, courses. Since one of the big frustrations of golf in the Algarve is the slow pace of play this is a big plus.
The main criticism would be the series of very short par 4s in the middle of the back nine, which are straight forward even for a high handicapper such as myself.
There are some memorable signature holes, such as the island green 17th.

Possibly one of the most friendly clubs in the Quinta area, a team of staff who are keen to ensure play is kept moving and one of the best lunches for miles.
The combination of nine holes through the trees followed by the links like second nine with a selection of water hazards populated by the beautiful Purple Gallinule and nesting Storks, make it an enjoyable day in all weathers.
Make sure you pack the insect repellent for the end of the round as the water hazards are home to many of the little beggars.4th and seventeenth are real target shot par threes.
