Old Tom Morris and James Braid meet at Dunbar Golf Club in East Lothian, Scotland
Dunbar Golf Club in East Lothian, Scotland is a historic links golf course dating back to 1856. The course is mostly set narrowly between a deer park wall and the sea, which makes for 14 holes all within very close proximity to the Firth of Forth. In fact, many tees sit right next to the coastline, while today, four holes play on the opposite side of the stone wall, including back-to-back par 5s that begin the round, followed by a downhill par-3 3rd that heads straight out to sea.
Since the golf course was plotted, it's received a number of improvements. Old Tom Morris came along in the late 1890s, but the course can attribute it's current form thanks to James Braid and Ben Sayers' improvements and lengthening efforts in 1922-23. White tee yardage now stretches to just under 6,600 yards, and it hosted Open Championship qualifying in 2002 when the Open was hosted at Muirfield just down the road.
