Carton House Golf
Club is an Irish
challenge, reader says
(Nov. 16, 2006) - Played Carton House Golf Club in County Kildare during the 2006 Ryder Cup week. The golf course may be more an American course than Irish parkland but is challenging enough to keep one's interest.
There are few level holes or lies, and the distances are deceiving. We played the course from the 6,600-yard white tees. This is plenty for most, and if the wind blows it plays much longer.

The O'Meara course has a version of "Amen Corner." After finishing the 15th, look for the brown trout feeding in the river on 16. The climb up to the 17th tee will make you glad you stopped to take a moment on 16. Look forward to playing here again.
