Alston Moor Gofl Club opened on its present site in 1969. Designed and built by the members all voluntary and has some of the best greens in the area. The club DOES NOT use winter greens. The clubhouse is open at the weekends with full catering services. Open evenings during the week and snacks are available. The course offers some wonderful views of the North Pennines and Tyne Valley. Handicap certificates are not required and a reasonable standard of dress is required.
Directions 2.4 km (1.5 miles ) from Alston town on the road to Middleton in Teesdale and is signposted from the town head. Penrith, Carlisle, Hexham 32-48km (20-30 miles) away.

Parkland and fell dropping about 2000 feet to lowest part of the course. It is played as 18 holes with different tees. The course is in the process of updating to 18 holes. The course is testing for all classes of handicaps. There are very few bunkers and a couple of water hazards.
