Myself and a few others played Ashfield golf course recently whilst visiting relatives in the area. To those of you who have not had the pleasure to attempt this course - I would highly recommend it. Despite the fact that the weather was not on my side, and the course being slightly water-logged I found it to be an exceptional course and quite challenging. The 6th hole especially where there is a lake as an obstacle. As a seasoned golfer, who has played numerous courses throughout my golfing 'career', I personally thought that the fairways and greens were in excellent condition - despite the awful weather. It's nestled in the heartlands of south Armagh, which is an absolutely beautiful green lush part of Ireland and as yet undiscovered by tourists. There is a fantastic new clubhouse at Ashfield which has been recently built, I think as recently as a year ago. A blazing open fire welcomed us weary golfers, and we enjoyed a warm bowl of soup and a pint of cold Guinness whilst drying out after a soaking out on the course. Ashfield truly is a jem of a course and I would highly recommend it, we found the staff to be super friendly and have to say that it's great value for money. Well worth a visit. Jack Gardner

Not a course for the serious golfer.
Despite being 20 years old, this course has never grown up. The fairways are still lined with staked trees, teething problems have never been addressed, while to put it nicely, the greens could all do with being rebuilt, as they are either impossible to land on (10th, 11th, 18th) or just happen to pieces of fairway cut a little shorter.
But it is friendly, unpretentious, decent value for money, and has a nice new clubhouse.
