Since most of the other messages have been posted the golf course has had a serious overhaul and is now a well kept course. The staff are very friendly and give tips on improving your game. I would recommend this course to beginners and the experienced golfer.

I visited Auchenharvie golf course on the 13th of May and all I can say is at least the weather was good because it was the worst course I have ever played. The fairways and rough were one of the same and the general state of the greens was poor, which at a cost of pence's too much! It wasn't all doom and gloom, the food in the clubhouse was very good and the staff were friendly.

I visited Auchenharvie Golf course in January 2001. As an Ex-Pat Scot I was looking forward to playing in the homeland. Most of the 'well known' courses in the area were either closed or severely restricted. Auchenharvie was restricted - all 9 greens were temporary - but well positioned, taking nothing away from the play. The 9 holes play around a lake and the ruins of a castle. Each hole is different - nothing boring here! When playing the second 9, the Tee positions are changed enough to make it totally different. Of particular note is the 8th and 17th; there is probably another 100 yds. added to the 17th.
When I played, the condition of the course was poor. The fairways were difficult to distinguish from the rough. Also, this is municipal course and you are sometimes presented with dog walkers and people feeding the local swans. Having said that, my playing partners and I enjoyed the game.
The clubhouse spills over with good Scots hospitality. The Pro shop is well stocked and for anyone like me who is used to South of England prices - I live in Bosham near Chichester - take your credit card with you!.
Summary: given the time of year, an acceptable course and enough of a challenge for me (Hdcp 25). Excellent hospitality and good bargains to be had in the pro shop. I look forward to playing it again in the summer.

I am a member of Moorpark GC, based at Auchenharvie GC. I have a handicap of 5 and am currently the Club Champion. The course was oncenot in very good condition, however over the last 2 years extensive work has been taking place, turning the course from a mess into a decent golf course and challenge for golfers of all handicaps.
