I recently played Barshaw with my two carers. I am a heavy mong and always get the best seats. The people were very friendly and even i found the course simple enough to navigate from my wheelchair. I have struggled to play golf since the accident and am now so happy i have found my golfing home! Barshaw rules baby

I Would Agree That It Is A Great Course And Is Good For Beginners. I Found It Quite Difficult To Find My Way Around The Course As There Is No Maps Of The Course.
I Have Only Played At Barshaw Once And That Was Today.
I Would Advice People To Go Early As It Gets Busy As The Day Goes On.

This is where i started playing golf years ago and still do occasionally (only for practice) coz thats really all it is good for, to many golfers who actually cant play golf and they usually turn up in 3s and 4s so a lot of waiting about as for the course this could be a really cracking coarse if given a lot of tlc but its run by the council so no chance of that happening (that costs money) to many par 4s reachable in 1 the 16th should be a long par 3 and the 6th should be a par 5 as reasonably good golfers would struggle to hit the green in 2, not bad course but could do better!

The course is very hilly so bring the battery powerd trolly. The course needs a little TLC. There are magnificent views of Glasgow and Paisley.

played barshaw a good few times and found it better than most private clubs in renfrewshire (ie ralston. eldersie. c/castle. bieth.)
    I found it very hard the 6th should be a par5 .

This could be a good course if properly managed. The condition of the fairways and greens are a disgrace for a levy of around £10 per round. Had this been a private course someone would have been sacked a long time ago. Money taken in fees is obviously subsidising some other failing Council run venture. Time golfers in Paisly area got together and boycotted this tip and lobbyed council to take an active interest in what appears to be a gradual run down of this course

I have played Barshaw Golf Course for the past two years and now moved to a private course. The course is excellant for the beginner/ intermediate player as fairways are fairly forgiving. The course does suffer from a lack of par 5's and the par 4's are a week bit short. The 8th hole is spectacular providing view over glasgow.

I'd just like to give my opinion on Barshaw golf course. As you know it is a municipal course and is very popular due to its central location and relatively cheap price. As a result of this it attracts a lot of attention from novices and those just playing golf as a once a month leisure pursuit.
Due to the volume of people and the level of golf being played the course rarely climbs above acceptable in terms of playability. The greens are either far too heavy or have no grass on them at all and in general it is a very, poor. The course does have some merit though. The second hole is a tiny and teasing par three that played blind over a hill and is built in to the side of a hill. The view from the eighth hole is spectacular as you can see the Rolls Royce chimney looming in the distance. It is not a difficult course by any stretch of the imagination and on a good day an 11 handicapper like myself can shoot low 70's without any difficulty. Overall it is not a course that I will play unless I have no other options, but for someone just starting out it is ideal for getting a few horrific rounds in before your game improves.
