Boat of Garten Golf and Tennis Club, popular with both visitors from home and abroad, the course has become firmly established as a 'must' for those who enjoy a golfing tour of the Scottish Highlands. The Clubhouse with its restaurant, bar and integral visitor changing rooms, offers a warm and friendly welcome, and a high standard of catering to the visitor. A well stocked golf shop also serves to satisfy the golfer's every need. Two quality tennis courts are available and are regularly enjoyed by family members not inclined to golf.

Designed by one of the grand masters of golf course architecture, James Braid, The Boat is only a demanding test of sporting skill but also a magnificent scenic setting for the game. The view from the Clubhouse, over the 1st and 2nd fairways and beyond, to the Cairngorm Mountains - with such distinctive features as the Lairig Ghru and the northern corries of Braeriach - is incomparable, certainly within the realms of Scottish golf. This Highland grandeur, depending on the day, can inspire high achievement on the course or, in the more common event of disappointing performance, afford the comfort and consolation of communing with nature in uniquely attractive surroundings. I played this course when I wasn't swinging well. It was one of the worst golfing days of my life. This was a great shame as the course is terrific, tough, and beautiful. The opening hole is plain but from then on..... Highly recommended (to those swinging well)

I played 36 holes on a beautiful day in May 2002. A wonderful albeit very difficult course. It is very up and down, resulting in a good number of downhill and uphill shots, and its hard to get a flat lie. There is a steam railway that lines the outward half, which adds a bit of romance, and the omnipresent birch trees and views of the snow-capped Cairngorms are lovely.
One silly hole on the back nine called gulley , a short par four that requires you hit either a lofted 3-wood or wedge, but nothing in-between, if you can believe that. Apart from that, however, a terrific 18 holes. I especially appreciated it after 4 days of playing links golf - a super contrast.
I paid 30 pounds for a day ticket and it was well worth it. Friendly staff.

On my first visit to Boat of Garten golf course I made the mistake of going out under clear blue skies with no waterproofs in my bag. Unfortunately it started raining by the 7th and I had to walk off at the 9th, I still enjoyed the experience! I have managed to play the course on twice since then and I love this great test of golf.

My father and I made several trips to Scotland before we found our way to Aviemore and Boat-of-Garten. Hole 13 is an incredible golf hole; it's a 435-yard, uphill dogleg right with a blind approach. I almost fainted after holing out from 200 yards. The best part of our Boat experience was the serenity this splendid course offered. I don't think I saw another living soul for two days. I will never forget this, nor will I neglect to play it ever again! The mountains, the railway, the course, the hotel, the mahogany bar, McEwan's . . . need I say more?

The most beautiful golf course you are ever likely to play. The scenery almost takes your mind off how difficult the course is.
I have played it three times now and am going back next week.........I know I'm going to love it.

The most beautiful of courses, heather at the base of trees make it a challenge if you stray from the fairways which are undulating, don't be fooled by 'easy' first. Excellent views from higher tees, steam railway runs along side 4th. The Boat hotel is a good place to stay and there's another 18 at Grantown -on-Spey and a 9 at Nethybridge where there's a war memorial in the middle of one fairway.
I don't think you would ever tire of the Boat or the countryside around.

I was so enchanted by this course that I chose to play it on my birthday. Every hole has its magical charm and the view of the Cairngorms and the Spey River alongside are enough to soothe anyone's soul. I recommend it to all my friends who want to play a variety of courses in Scotland and even have it as a part of a golf program I run called 'Fairway to Heaven'.

This is a 'gem' of a course. Played it 2 years running and would recommend it to any golfer. On the course there is a bench commemorating a lady that played it every year for 50 or so (I can't remember the actual details) years, roll on the next 48!
