A flat 18 hole Scottish parkland golf course located in the central belt of Scotland with a long-standing reputation for excellent greens, Bothwell is a popular course with members and visitors alike. It is challenging for players at all levels. The building of the new clubhouse with its excellent facilities on a new site, has allowed the club to revise the course layout, with several new tee positions and some new greens, making it one of the premier golf facilities in central Scotland.

The new clubhouse officially opened in October 2004 by the Captain of the R&A Golf Club of St Andrews, offers the best amenities available to golfers and guests in the West of Scotland. The extensive lounge/bar, restaurant, function room and 1st floor balcony all provide panoramic views of the course; combined with spacious locker and changing rooms, these facilities provide the ideal venue for a great day’s golf.

I am writing this letter in a hope of a result in enrolling my son age 12 and maybe myself too, although i am currently a member of dalziell park.My son gets coaching at school and i also take him golfing with me ,and like his coach i think he has something there, and would therefore love him to get more practice than i can offer as my club is too far i feel for him to travel alone.as bothwell is very accessible and fine to play ive heard and more potential i also feel this consideration would be more than apprecieated. thank you

I had expected great things from Bothwell Castle and arrived looking forward to some testing golf on a course that has a reputation in the area for producing accomplished juniors and seniors for many years.
The club facilities are well-laid out and in pretty good condition, with a practice putting green and good-sized practice area close to the pro-shop with adjoining clubhouse, which is really nice.
However it was the course that was a huge let down. The big fairways and greens lie open to attack from all angles, which made it very easy to score on. It doesn't really hold any test for mid to low h/caps.
Without sounding rude or unappreciative, I could easily have fallen asleep at the turn through shear lack of involvement.
The course does suffer somewhat from a rather disjointed character as you enter the back nine and although is still in reasonable condition, not anything special to compensate for an easily forgettable round. There are some very attractive looking holes that manage to grab your attention, but far to few to combat the
overall blandness of a very simple course.
Unfortunately I cannot see myself rushing back to play this course in the future, but don't let that deter you from giving it a bash. If you like courses that rarely surprise or challenge your game, then Bothwell Castle is worth a look.
Its in good condition, has a nice club house/facilities and pretty straight forward to score on.

Having visited Bothwell Castle Golf Club recently, I found it to be a wonderful afternoon's challenge. Not too scary. One or two beautiful holes. The far side of the course unfortuneately looks like its been an afterthought and doesn't fit too well with the rest of the course in terms of layout and style. Nevertheless a good challenge and an enjoyable afternoon.

Bothwell Castle now has a new clubhouse the envy of any golf course in central Scotland. The course layout has been altered and what was the new part of the course now has well developed trees and fits in perfectly with the rest of the course. Visit bcgolf.co.uk for more details

Having played Bothwell Castle Golf Course Recently, I found it to be a fairly simple course, no match for a low handicaper like myself. Reasonable length, and neat condition, but far side of course has obviously been tagged when the course has been extended. A much harder test of golf is Strathaven Golf Club, around 25 miles away. Strathaven I found had much better facilities, and I felt the course was better presented.

On the whole I would have to say Bothwell is a relatively simple track. There is not to much trouble to get into and the layout is open enough. Most of the holes are developing well and evidence of much needed improvement on the far side of the course is there. The facilities at the club are adequate and there is ample car parking.
