Played at Buchanan Castle today and was very disappointed in the state of the course,I realise that we have had a very poor summer and that a lot of courses have suffered because of this.It appears none more than Buchanan Castle, most fairways have casual water on them and some are deeply rutted from the tractors and buggies in use. The greens that were in use were very good but Having played on a number of courses in the last 3 wks this is by far the worst course I have played this year. By contrast Hilton Park 9 miles up the road is in far better condition and you have the choice of 2 very good courses.

Buchanan Castle, known to locals as the Old Lady, is a gem waiting to be discovered. A very flat coarse, yet with many interesting holes, both fairways and greens are in acceptable condition. Low scores can be had as my partner and myself have both discovered. A course greatly suited to the older golfer due to its very flat layout, and a large and friendly clubhouse that always brings a smile to my face. Well worth a visit.
