Course Details

Course Name: Budock Vean Holes: 9 Yardage: 5227 SSS: 65
Budock Vean course designed by James Braid and is built on gently undulating parkland with narrow fairways flanked by trees. With excellent natural drainage, the course recovers very quickly from heavy rain. There are 9 holes with 18 tees.

The 572 yard, par 5, 6th hole is one of the longest in Cornwall with OOB either side of a narrowing fairway. The greens, some of which are raised, are well protected by bunkers. A SSS 3 strokes less that the par of 68 makes this subtle course a very good test for all handicaps. The picturesque 9th/8th is a teasing short hole to a plateau green which demands pin-point accuracy and provides a fitting conclusion to a most enjoyable course.

James Braid designed Budock Vean in 1931. His maps are on the clubhouse wall, so 1922 is curious?
In 2006 the course was further lenghtened and the difference in the SSS is now only two.
The Award winning 4*Budock Vean Hotel is situated on a former monastery and has it`s own private foreshore to the delightful Helford River.

What a great course. it is particularly challenging as there are narrow fairways, trees and raised greens. But a lot of fun. There are 18 holes in all. Also the hotel is very welcoming and luxurious. Do enjoy Budock it is a lot of fun. Tony and Sue Ramsden - the resident pros take good care of you.
