Course Details
Course Name: Carlow Holes: 18 Yardage: 6393 SSS: 71 |
Carlow Golf Club is an 18 hole Parkland course. Designed by Tom Simpson it is laid out over undualting terrain with elevated tees, several excellent dog legs and large, slick putting surfaces. There are many long par fours and the 16th is rated as one of the most spectacular holes. Christy O'Connor Snr. has chosen it as the foremost 16th hole in Ireland. With sandy sub soil, Carlow is playable twelve months of the year and a plugged ball is most almost unherad of. It's qualities are further enhanced by water hazrds at the 1st, 2nd,10th and 11th. The course statistics ad as follows: length 5,844 metres, par 70 and there are only two Par 5's. The Par 5 18th offers the chance of closing birdie and grandstand finish as it tumbles downhill all the way to the Clubhouse. A good ending to a memorable round. For an appreciation and independent view of this course please see golfer reviews. ![]() |

The course was excellent and the welcome given was excellent. I hope to play again in 2000. I played during the open week and this was well organised. I would recommend it to all golfers. I am a 17 handicap golfer.

Carlow Golf Club is the finest in Ireland. The members are the best you can find anywhere. My ambition is half complete, that is to be on #11 and 16 in two. A drive and 3 wood did it on 16. Hopefully this June the same will happen on 11. As an Overseas Member I am flatter to be a part of keeping the Irish economy strong with my losses.
All the best, Bill O
