When I was a young lad, I used to be a member at this club, which was then known as Tapton Park GC. It's one of the most interesting (and hilly) courses you'll play and boasts a 620yard 5th hole. To give you an idea how hilly it is, it's probably true to say that you never seem to be going downhill!
The front nine has some interesting holes where you have to drive over water, and length is definitely an advantage. When the course dries up, the ball runs for ever which is great on the few long flat fairways, but can be a bit of a nightmare on the blind shots over on to the many sloped fairways.
It's a good, varied test of golf with great view over Chesterfield Town Centre and the Crooked Spire, but if you get tired easily, get yourself a caddy for the day.
