After reading the comments from several years ago i felt i should comment on the state of ddee gc in 2010. I have been a member of this club for the past 3 years during this time the club have made changes to their greenkeeping staff/bar staff etc. The course is now a joy to play and ALWAYS in great condition, the new changes to the course make it more testing and the organisation throughout the club you can see is improving all the time. Test your game and enjoy the craic after! (Hopefully its not too windy!)

This course has always been a fair challenge to the average golfer (which most of us are) and credit must go to the club for upgrading the layout and in particular the bunker layout. This work continues and all goes to make for a very pleasant experience on the North Down coast with superb views across to Scotland, coupled with the superb and warm welcome in the clubhouse. Make sure you pen it in as a ‘must attend’ entry in your diary.

While being a member of Donaghadee Golf Club some 25 years ago before imigrating I think I recall a person could join the club as an overseas member entitling the person to play one month of each year, but not having any voting rights. Or is there any other method one can join as a oversea's member.

Dear Sir I am the daughter of the above, and would like to verify the fact that my father wond the 1926 All Ireland Amateur Golf Championship. I was born in 1936, and so all I have is a photograph of him holding this wonderful trophy. I am married and live in Austrlia. Recently I have taken up golf, and would love to know as much about my father's golfing past as possible. I believe the trophy still resides in your clubhouse. My email address is paddyellison@optusnet.com.au

A good place to be.juvenils the future of the club are given no respect. We treat the older male generations of the club with it and its only right that we get the same in return. THis is not the case in some cases. Juvenils are restricted to certain times on the corse even when no one else is playing and there is no competion you are told to b off the corse at a certain time. How are you ment to improve if you can't play.

Mark needs to realise that a seperate company called Thornleigh catering provides the food, they are separate from the Club. Who provides the information for this site, this issue should have been investigated.
Donaghadee Golf Club has been established for over a century and would appreciate only positive feedback, it would appreciate greatly if Mark would disclose his connection to the club and if he has played it or not, i don't believe an outsider looking in should be passing comments on an alien issue. Thank you very much for your comment and i look forward to your speedy response.

I have a long standing relationship with the Club thro my family and I am quite surprised and disappointed to see the response from John, whoever he may be ? Perhaps his position in the Club could be clarified. Obviously without knowing the full facts one should no pass judgement but it strikes me that this is not the way to promote the Club and the matter should be addressed by someone in authority. in the Club

I have recently played the course and food and discounts should be the least of their worries. The course is rubbish, the layout of the course rubbish and the quality of the greens rubbish. I am in disagreement with the others though, the food is actually good and the service very prompt, just pity about everything else

On a visit to your course on Mon 20th September we had 7 men down to play your course.I myself am a logan leisure member and produced my card for 25% discount on a fourball. The guy at the desk would not accept as he said he had already written the tickets. This was not my fault and he refused quite smuggly that he would not accept. It also says on your website you can get food 7 days a week and this is not the case.We went to your course because you could eat after your round. I look forward to your reply to this message.

        Hi David,
I had a similar experience but after listening to the guy in the shop it was explained to me that it was cheaper to pay the present discounted green fee as it was cheaper than the discount on the regular green fee....simple he was doing you favour sounds like !

You must not have a telephone, this can be used to check in advance by dialling a 11 digit number, you would have found the kitchen is closed on Mondays, also if the club would accept your "logan leisure membership card" and give you the 25% discount, if you want to pay 25% less then play 6 rather than 8 people are you a member anywhere?

Is John serious? If the course has published a discount offer they should accept it - course attract extra business by offering discounts - you can't have it both ways. David didn't want to play 6 rather than 8 - he just wanted what he was promised in writing on his discount card by the course. Again if it also says on the website that food is available 7 days a week then it should be - the point of having the information on the website is so that you don't have to phone.

Donaghadee Golf Club is a major attraction towards Donaghadee Town Centre. Situated along the North Down coast, Donaghadee Golf Club is an unbelievable place to visit. It has the most fantastic catering services and the cheapest bar prices in the Borough. At the end of the day, Donaghadee Golf Club is the place to be.
