I have played this course many times whilst visting relations in the Bolton area. For several years now I have been convinced that it has the potential to become a future Ryder Cup venue, (probably around the year 2080). To achieve the status of a Ryder Cup contender several items need to be attended to.
1. The course needs to be lengthened by at least a couple of hundred yards.
2. It might be useful if it was extended to eighteen holes, in order that the Ryder Cup matches didn't clash at the first and tenth tees.
3. Security guards will need to be posted to prevent the flagsticks and bunker rakes being stolen as they are at present. I just cannot picture Tiger Woods IV asking his caddie the yardage to the branch and Coke tin!
4. Not quite sure where the tented village will fit in, but no doubt it can be accommodated.
All in all, a splendid course!
