Whilst demanding a good degree of skill to cover the distances and hazards, Mount Murray was always a boring course of fields and hedges with no mature trees.
Recently, the best hole on the course (Par 5 18th with lake to cross before the green in front of the hotel) has been chopped down to a pitch and putt par 3 in order that even more houses can be built on the fairway.
MMGC lost its only feature I'm afraid but is OK if you happen to be there and like a lot of wind.

A group of us played this course on 12th May 2001 and thought it was expensive but good golf. (£25 for a buggy!)
It's a long course with 5 Par 5's and there are some very strange lies and routes that a second round would allow a better score.
The 10th Hole is by far the worst with a very poor fairway undergoing extensive drainage work. The rest of the course was well maintained.
Apart from the price of a buggy, biggest complaint was wayward yardage markers causing errors from the better golfer, assuming the distances to be accurate!
Excellent clubhouse and facilities.
If you are there anyway, make the effort.

They should have left this farm a farm. Somebody with little idea of good service and golf obviously thought they could make more money in the golf industry than farming. I played this pasture 2 years ago. Poor service, under-staffed, wouldn't take a travellers cheque and the clock on top of the clubhouse was stopped. First class goat track.
