Ormeau Golf Course boasts an enviable position, only a driver away from Belfast City Centre. But that is it's only saving grace.
It comprises of a flat, uninspiring nine-hole layout that is susceptible to drainage problems.
On top of this, an over-zealous club pro who has ideas above his station makes this course innaccessible to the audience that a course of this quality should be aimed at i.e. those starting out at the game

have to disagree with Anthony's statement i think it's a lovely little course well maintained with a few quirky holes not the hardest course but enjoyable. I also found the Pro really helpful and friendly on the few occasions i've visited there as was everyone else!

    Dear Sirs,
I would like to thank you wholeheartedly: November Friday the eleventh we played at your club with a group of nine people from Holland who came to play at Ormeaugolfclub. We enjoyed a wonderful week-end in Belfast. But we were particularly delighted with your warm welcome: your pro (mr Rourk) and caddy master (Mr Freddy), had arranged for golf sets, shoes and even trousers for us to play nine holes. We loved the Ormeau golf course, so uniquely located in the heart of the city, and greatly enjoyed our round on a beautiful autumn day. Several of your club members invited us for pints in the back bar afterwards and soon Irish and Dutch jokes were exchanged, as well as welcome tips for sightseeing both in Amsterdam and Belfast. Indeed a wonderful and spirited start of our trip to Belfast. If you ever come to Amsterdam don’t hesitate to contact me - so I can return the honour - to play golf or just meet to have a drink. Cheers,

I have just reurned to Australia after a short trip home to Belfast.I played 2 x 18 rounds at Ormeau just for nostalgic reasons having been born on the ormeau road in 1955.I had a great time on both days staff were good....the meal in the club house was great and the course its self was challenging enough compared to many 9 hole courses I have played..good well kept fairways ....very long par 4s...tricky par 3s....So having played many courses around the world and after reading the comments above ...
I say to the complainers.........drop the snobbery and appreciate the course and surroundings for what golf should be .....a walk in the park !

It's a good course. Not really too good enough like other Belfast Golf Clubs like Fortwilliam, Shandon Park, Cliftonville and others.

I was extrememly shocked and disgusted at the way myself and a business partner were treated on a recent trip to Ormeau Golf Club.
After reading on the official website "Visitors to Ormeau Golf Club can be assured of a warm and friendly welcome.." I found our welcome to be far from it.
We were made to feel rather unwelcome, challenged about what clothing we would be wearing asked whether we had 'proper golf shoes' we were then over charged and will definitely never be back.
