It is one hell of a walk up a very big hill but after 5 hole straight up you )will find a flat tight challenging golf course with two superb last two hole to challenge any golfer. The views are brilliant from anywhere. This is a truly rewarding course if you are fit enough to take it on. One of the best in Wales if you can handle the terrain.

I've only recently taken up the game, so was in awe at tackling a course such as this one.
As previous comments have said the climb up to the 5th hole is quite a steep one, but the holes involved along the way are good ones, particularly the dogleg 4th! But when you get to the top the climb is worthwhile as the views across Cardigan bay are truly breathtaking.
This already challenging course is in the process of being made even more difficult with many holes having new fairway bunkers constructed, and a raft of new trees planted which will mature in about 3-5 years. When this work is completed I'm sure that Penrhos will host a championship or two!
The almost sheer drop of the spectacular 17th hole makes it look much longer than the declared 165yds, but be careful not to take too much club! I went at it with a 5 iron (which I generally hit about 170 or so yards) and was lucky that I didn't quite catch it sweet so that my ball found a slight raised lip at the rear of the green which held it up and allowed me to make par.
I'm glad that my wife and I took advantage of a four night break at Penrhos and without doubt I will go back to play the course again!

Hello golfers, if you like a challenge both physically and mentally then Penrhos is for you. This course is built around a hill with a plateau on top offering panoramic views of the countryside and the Irish Sea.The early holes need accuracy while you ascend, water hazards in the form of ponds concentrate the mind along the way and then the 17th .The ultimate in vertical holes is much the topic in the friendly bar. Superb food, golf shop, top accomodation and well managed greens complete this very pleasurable
    experience.
