Pontefract is a rare treat for golfers looking for a superbly presented and testing course in pleasant surroundings. My favourite holes include the par 4 fifth, involving a drive over trees and gorse to an undulating fairway, with out of bounds, and the par three seventeenth over water.
Always well presented, the course is an undulating 18 hole parkland layout and boasts greens amongst the best green in Yorkshire.
Club house facilities are good, and catering is available. Situated only 5 minutes form junction 32 of the M62, this course guarantees a warm welcome, and an enjoyable game.
