Played here in July '00. It was my favorite course of those I played while in the UK. We played it on a day with a slight drizzle and 30 to 35 mph winds (just what I envision as typical Open weather). The outward nine was down wind and I used a 2 iron on all the par 4 and 5's shooting a respectable 41 and thinking why do the pro's have trouble with this course. However, the inward nine was a different story. Back into the wind and rain I managed to shoot a smooth 55. Can't wait for next years Open. The lunch which came with the green fees was great and the staff and members were very friendly. This will be on my list of courses when I return.

There is no greater challenge than Royal Lytham when the wind blows from the north west. My favourite hole is the 17th. Accuracy is all important on this hole and just recently new bunkers have been added to catch out the long drivers, and pro's when they come along again in 2001.
