This is a course with a lot of potential.
it has the basics for a challenging course but is uncared for eg:- no bunker rakes, very poor tee areas, weed ridden fairways full of divets and flags that range from 6 feet to 3 feet high not to mention the the disgusting brook that runs accross the back nine.
So come on halton council take on some greenkeepers, buy some rakes and decent flagsticks and pipe that awfull brook and you might be worthy of a recomendation untill then take your green fee to walton hall in nearby warrington and see what a local authority municipal can look like.

Great course for the beginner but still challenging enough for the more experienced golfer.Excellent greens for a municipal course and very hilly. Well worth a visit.

I'd have to agree with everything said in the above review. Great course, challenging, excellent greens and well worth a visit. But a few things have been missed out by Mr Chadwick.
1 queuing on this course is the worst I have seen anywhere.
2 I saw several people play shots to par 3's only to have some kid run out of the bushes and nick the ball.
3 I don't recall seeing a single next tee sign anywhere on the course and there are a few dodgily placed tees.
4 All the cups are represented by pieces of cane varying in length from approx. 5ft-1ft, giving a false impression of where the hole actually is. This is probably due to the same kids running off with the flags too.
I loved the course and advise anybody to give it a go, but only if you are tolerant enough to put all these little irritations to the back of your mind.
