Played Stonehaven Aug 2010. The weather and the scenery were amazing. Quite easily the most memorable day of the trip. While shorter than some other courses we played it had plenty of other challenges as well as some really fun shots uphill and over gorges in the cliff side. For our group of widely varying skill levels it was great that the course was fairly open and kept everyone in play even if not without considerable punishment. The course was well maintained with a great clubhouse which included a nice snooker table and an excellent burger. The club captain and the manager of the course were some of the friendliest people I met in Scotland. Dunnattar castle was fairly close by and also worth a visit.

Played Stonehaven Sept 2008, sun shining and no wind, it was glorious !
Although, saying that, I can imagine that playing in the wind on the cliffs would be hugely different.
Course was in fantastic condition after all the recent rains and the hospitality enjoyed in the clubhouse was first class. I'll be back.

Last Summer I was in Scotland to visit my brother and to play some golf. My niece goes to school in Aberdeen and kept telling me about this course in Stonehaven that her train went through on her way back to their home in Broughty Ferry, so we had to try it. It was a true delight. It was quite well maintained and sits up on a cliff
overlooking the North Sea. Some of the views were amazing and there were a couple of tees and greens sitting on points sticking out into the sea. It was a thoroughly enjoyable round of golf, but it seemed like every hole after the first one was uphill. Kind of tough walking for a Florida boy like me. A hill around here is called a landfill.

This was the scene of possibly my finest golfing moment to date. My tee shot on the par 4 17th took me towards the bottom of the fairway below the level of the green, just into the rough, whilst my friend Mike, his brother Scott and his Dad were to the right of the fairway. My second shot, a 9 iron, looked very impressive in the air from where I stood but I had no idea where it was to land. As I put my club away I heard shouts of 'It's gone in!'. Being mystified by these cries I asked 'What has?'. The end result was that my ball had taken 2 bounces and dropped straight in for my first ever eagle. I felt somewhat cheated that I didn't see the end result. However, a few short moment's later we were in the 19th, enjoying a hot meal and reminiscing over a pint, my 2nd on the 17th, which I couldn't hear being described enough. This is a thoroughly enjoyable course that was in fantastic condition with plenty of challenging holes.
