Being from newcastle it's not often I venture into the big city but this really was a treat. This course plays very well although I managed to lose half a dozen balls into the mighty river wear. I also found a few holes which play over wide daunting gourges a wee bit of a challenge too. I currently playing off 22 but only managed an impressive 129 around here. With a bit luck I'll be pulled to 20 next time. The chap in the previous reveiw must be a bit tasty, he should be batting off 10 or less.

I think this course is a bit to easy for my liking but has some decent holes. A mate i played with kept going in the drink on a hole on front nine, but saying that he is a mackem! A big hitter like myself could easily hit a round of 80 even with a handicap of 15. Last reviewer must need some practice if he can't better 90 after 20 years! Anyone for a challenge? SK?

I really enjoy this course and have been a member here for many a year. It is a tough course that even now after 20 years of playing i would struggle to get under 90. A mate who played it for first time even beat me easily recently!

Laid out on the southern bank of the River Wear, with the contrasting views of modern business parks to the North and the Grecian folly, Penshaw Monument, to the SouthWest. This is a challenging course with some tight holes. No slices allowed on 2,3 or 4 to name but three.
I played this in June 2000, after a period of really heavy rain, and it was in very good condition. Overall a very good test for mid-high handicappers.

In my opinion, from holes 2-8 anywhere left off the tee is a no go zone. it is a very challenging course but i feel after a few rounds on it, you will find out some of the course tricks and where the 'members bouncers' are.
