This is a good course for beginners. This is mainly because there is no rough
and very few bunkers, but is still a good test of your ability with a
sss(standard scratch score)four shots below par. Despite it being a counsil
cource the greens are good and the course is kept in good order.

whitehead golf club is NOT a council course. There ia another course in whitehead called the bentra which is a council run course. Whitehead gc is an excelent course and a must for any golfer.

This course I have played on a number of occasions and it is a bit of a Jekel and Hyde course, depending on the wind. To get around the front nine your best bet would be to hire a sherpa to get you up the first three holes , but at the top of the third hole which is a par 5 the view is stunning no matter what weather, and after the hike of the first three holes you are gently brought back down the hills to a well laid out flat!! back nine. I wouldn't recommend this course to someone who is just learning the game as it will punish you.
