I was fortunate enough to play here some 35 years ago, few then would argue that it was the best 9-hole golf course in the country. The course is laid out along an outcrop of sandy soil that gives it the heath-like qualities of all year enjoyment, so long as you can hit the ball straight!
Some 10 years ago it was extended to 18 holes, and in that time the new nine have all but seemlessly blended in with the old.
The course is relatively short at just under 6000 yards, but this belies its difficulty. Golf course archetecture often allows the golfer a few holes to get into their stride; not here! If you can get through the first 5 holes with a card still in your hand, you will then have every right to pat yoursrelf firmly on your back. Keep going though as the fun rarely eases up.
The views are spectacular on the high parts of the course, namely the 3rd, 15th and 17th, elsewhere the holes meander through woods, heather and gorse, all making a very testing examination of one's game.
This is a members' club that is approaching its centenary, and I have have always been made very welcome here.
Afterwards you can relax in one of the roundalls that were part of the old oast house that now makes up its clubhouse.
    All-in-all, well worth a visit.

Wrotham Heath Golf Club is simply delightful...
A wonderful course at any time of the year but is particularly superb during
    the winter.
Proof that you don't have to make a course 7000yds, fill it with sand and
water to make it challenging, there's plenty here to keep your mind on the
job. Although it is nearly 100 years old, it was a 9 hole course until
fairly recently but you would be hard pushed to spot the new ones.
Watch out for the tricky 3rd hole...
